Both The BJP Candidates Rambhai Mokria And Dineshbhai Anawadia Alias Dinesh Prajapati Were Elected Unopposed In The Two Vacant Rajya Sabha Seats In Gujarat.

Gandhinagar: Dinesh Anawadia and Rambhai Mokria, elected to the Rajya Sabha from Gujarat, were sworn in as Rajya Sabha MPs on Monday. Among them, Dinesh Anawadia was sworn in as a Rajya Sabha MP in Sanskrit. Rambhai Mokria, another Rajya Sabha MP elected from Gujarat, was sworn in as a Rajya Sabha MP in Hindi.

 

Both the BJP candidates Rambhai Mokria and Dineshbhai Anawadia alias Dinesh Prajapati were elected unopposed in the two vacant Rajya Sabha seats in Gujarat.

 

Among the two BJP candidates for the Rajya Sabha, Rambhai Mokria was selected for the Rajya Sabha seat which fell vacant due to the death of Abhay Bhardwaj, while Dinesh Prajapati was selected for the seat which fell vacant due to the death of Congress MP Ahmed Patel.

 

Ahmed Patel was elected to the Rajya Sabha in August 2017, so his six-year term ended in August 2023. Dinesh Anawadia, who was elected in his place, will also complete his term in August 2023, so Dinesh Anawadia will also retire in August 2023. Thus, for the first time in the Rajya Sabha, Dineshbhai Prajapati will be a member of the Rajya Sabha for about two and a half years.

 

BJP Rajya Sabha member Abhay Bhardwaj was elected as a Rajya Sabha member in July 2020 and his term would end in July 2026. His successor Rambhai Mokria will also complete his term in July 2026, so Rambhai Mokria will be a member of the Rajya Sabha for about five and a half years.
