Rambhai Mokria-Dineshbhai Prajapati: Who Are The New MPs Of Gujarat Rajya Sabha Who Will Be The Uncontested Winners?

Rambhai Mokria and Dineshbhai Jemalbhai Prajapati (Anawadia) were nominated as Rajya Sabha candidates from Gujarat on BJP ticket and they have won unopposed.

 

The Election Commission has announced separate by-elections for the two seats. Looking at the numbers, Mokria and Anawadia were likely to be elected easily and the Congress did not field a candidate.

 

Mokria, chairman of 'Shri Maruti Courier', who wants to become a teacher, has traveled from a worker to a BJP candidate for the Rajya Sabha.

 

Two seats have fallen vacant following the deaths of senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel (age 71) and BJP's Abhay Bhardwaj (age 66). Both leaders died of covid-19 and multiple organ failure.

 

February 22 was the last day to file nominations and elections were to be held on March 1. However, the two candidates have won uncontested before.
