There were 8 BJP MPs in the Rajya Sabha
Gujarat has a total of 11 seats in the Rajya Sabha, of which the BJP (gujarat bjp) currently has the highest number of 7 seats, while the remaining seats were held by the Congress. From the BJP, Parsotam Rupala, Mansukh Mandvia, Narhari Amin, Abhay Bhardwaj, Ramila Bara, Dr Jayashankar and Jugalji Thakor are Rajya Sabha MPs. From the Congress, Shaktisinh Gohil, Amiben Yagnik, Naransinh Rathwa, Ahmed Patel were Rajya Sabha MPs, out of which BJP Rajya Sabha MP Abhay Bhardwaj and Congress MP Ahmed Patel passed away recently. Now both the candidates are uncontested and the BJP has won 8 seats. So there are 3 Congress MPs. At the same time, the BJP's strength in the Rajya Sabha has increased.
Congress did not field any candidate
February 18 was the day to run for the Rajya Sabha elections. In which both the BJP candidates filled the form. But no candidate was declared by the Congress till the last moment. The Congress did not field a candidate as it was clear that it would not field a candidate as it did not expect to win the Rajya Sabha elections. This is because a separate manifesto was issued for the Rajya Sabha elections instead of one. So Congress does not have enough legislators to win. Thus the Congress lost.
