Gujarat Rajyasabah Chunav: BJP Made Rajya Sabha Candidate, Know Who Are Rambhai Mokaria And Dineshbhai Prajapati

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday announced that it will field Rambhai Mokaria and Dineshbhai Prajapati for the two vacant Rajya Sabha seats in Gujarat. Polling for these seats will be held on March 1. Both the seats fell vacant due to the death of Congress member Ahmed Patel and BJP member Abhay Bhardwaj.
Patel died on 25 November last year and Bhardwaj on 1 December last year due to the Kovid epidemic. However, both the BJP candidates will file their nominations by Thursday. Rambhai Mokaria is the founder CMD of Maruti Couriers and has been a longtime BJP worker in Rajkot.
Rambhai Mokaria is a Brahmin
Rambhai was a member of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad since 1974 and later joined the Jana Sangh in 1978. Since then he is with BJP. Mokaria belongs to the Brahmin community.
Dinesh comes from backward community
Dinesh Prajapati belongs to the Other Backward Community and hails from Banaskantha in North Gujarat. He is the chief of BJP Bakshipanch Morcha. He is the former director of Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation. He has also been the district general secretary of BJP Banaskantha.
Know the praise of nomination and election
The last day for filing nominations is February 18. Scrutiny of nominations will take place on February 19, while the last day for withdrawal of nominations is February 22. Voting will be held on March 1 from 9 am to 4 pm. The counting of votes will take place on the same day till 5 pm. The entire election process will be completed by March 3.
Ahmed's term was to end in 2023 and Bhardwaj's in 2026
Ahmed Patel was elected to the Rajya Sabha in 2017 and his term was to end on August 18, 2023. BJP's Abhay Bhardwaj was elected in June, 2020 and his term was to end on June 21, 2026.
The Congress has decided to challenge the Election Commission's decision on holding two separate elections as it has claimed that it will help the BJP win both the vacant seats.
